We have watermelon this summer but sorry it comes late. Autum season is here now.
Lesson learned: we must plant watermelon earlier next summer.

Rabarbra

Her er en veldig enkel oppskrift på rabarbrakompott som kan brukes som dessert, på grøt, yoghurt eller is. Den er rask å lage og fremhever den syrlige og gode smaken av rabarbra.
Enkel Rabarbrakompott
Ingredienser:
- 500 g rabarbra
- 1 dl vann
- 100-150 g sukker (juster etter smak)
- 1 kanelstang (valgfritt)
Fremgangsmåte:
- Skyll rabarbraen og kutt den i 2-3 cm store biter. Du trenger ikke å skrelle den med mindre skallet er veldig grovt.
- Ha rabarbrabitene i en kasserolle sammen med vann, sukker og eventuelt en kanelstang.
- Kok opp og la det småkoke i 5-10 minutter, eller til rabarbraen er mør og har falt litt fra hverandre. Rør av og til.
- Fjern kanelstangen og la kompotten avkjøles.
Server kompotten lunken eller kald, gjerne med litt fløte, vaniljesaus eller vaniljeis. Den kan oppbevares i kjøleskapet i et par dager.
Here’s a very simple recipe for rhubarb compote that can be used as a dessert, on porridge, yogurt, or ice cream. It’s quick to make and highlights the tart and delicious flavor of rhubarb.
Simple Rhubarb Compote
Ingredients:
- 500 g rhubarb
- 1 dl water
- 100-150 g sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
Instructions:
- Rinse the rhubarb and chop it into 2-3 cm pieces. You don’t need to peel it unless the skin is very tough.
- Place the rhubarb pieces in a saucepan with the water, sugar, and optional cinnamon stick.
- Bring to a boil, then simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until the rhubarb is tender and has broken down slightly. Stir occasionally.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and let the compote cool.
Serve the compote warm or cold, perhaps with some cream, vanilla sauce, or vanilla ice cream. It can be stored in the refrigerator for a couple of days.
